Technology has its Challenges!

Increase tech flexibility and agility Increase tech flexibility and agility: Organizations exist in an environment where there are frequent changes to tech policies, new legal requirements that need to be satisfied, and customer driven issues that are driving monumental changes to an organizations tech stack configuration. Smart-businesses and Smart-Government alike need to be able to keep pace with these changing needs so technology can act as an enabler and not an inhibitor.
Make more effective use of data Make more effective use of data: Organizations are moving away from an application driven tech model where the information network exists to serve applications. They are treating data as an integral part of organization’s infrastructure. In such an environment, applications are used to convert the organizations data assets into insights, actionable triggers, and points of collaboration; the objective being to increase the return on the organization’s tech investment.
Improve efficiency (do more with less) Improve efficiency (do more with less): The technology needs of every organization are growing faster than can be supported by any organization. Organizations that are in a growth mode cannot find enough qualified people and many organizations are trying to cut costs to force efficiency improvements. Organization have to do more with less personnel, money, and time. This cannot be accomplished using processes and that were adopted when IT was run as a support service. Expand customer services Expand customer services: Customers and other partners are becoming increasingly more tech savvy and that means organizations have to offer better and more services to satisfy the ever higher expectations of customers and partners. Personalized experiences that we once only offered to high end customers have become the norm. Complicating this issue is the fact that everyone is starting to expect more personalized experiences in the face of diversifying demands from populations.
Encourage business growth Encourage business growth: Organizations no longer have the ability to strictly focus on satisfying a customer’s demands. Today’s organizations have to both satisfy the current demand while simultaneously building the bridges that will evolve into tomorrow’s business opportunity. To accomplish this feat, each transactional action has to generate the data needed to support the next step in the customer’s journey. This makes data as both a key operational and strategic resource. Enhance privacy/security Enhance privacy/security: Every organization has had to contend with hackers and malcontents but these elements are becoming more sophisticated and targeted in their efforts to disrupt the organization, commandeer operations, and appropriate data for unscrupulous purposes. Institutions are facing a crisis trust and need to demonstrate to their stakeholders that they are capable of protecting their tech systems from external threats and internal misuse.
Encourage collaboration Encourage collaboration: In today’s dynamic business climate, organizations have to innovate to survive. Innovation requires collaboration with others inside and outside the organization. Studies have shown that the success of such projects requires the partners share data to maximize the collaborative benefit. In an operational environment, partners change and these changing business relationships require that data sharing agreements change fluidly as relationships evolve. normal text hover text and some comments

i3 is Here to Help

i3 was born out of a research project conducted at the University of Southern California (USC). The City of Los Angeles, the City of Long Beach, and the County of Los Angeles collaborated with USC to create a collaborative team made up of many governmental agencies, academic institutions, companies, and private citizens to explore these topics in-depth and to create a proof-of-concept prototype to validate the concept. In 2020, i3 Systems was formed in order to take a conceptual idea and turn it into commercial software that could scale and be reliably deployed.

Key i3 Features

  • Logging of data flow activations/deactivations
  • Duplication of data streams so one data stream can support many applications
  • Facilitation of data search processes so applications can peruse and find data of interest
  • Permission based access to data of interest where applications can request access to data streams and data producers can approve/deny access
  • Support for dynamic access to data streams for Ad Hoc access to data
  • Adaptability to allow I3 to support a variety of different data protocols/formats
  • Administrative support of data flows between independent teams within an organization and teams in different organizations

Next Steps

i3 can be used to manage the data flows between departments within a larger organization. It is an ideal solution as a data manager that processes the exchange of data between ecosystem participants that includes subcontractors, suppliers, distributors, and even customer-partners (customers. It can also be used to manage cross-border data flows.

As a software manufacturer, the i3 software can be used by organizations to oversee their own data flows are we encourage our customers to open their i3 nodes to others by selling data exchange services to outside parties as well. We encourage you to peruse the i3 catalog and configure your own i3 system.
